Megan Anderson and Cat Zingano fought at UFC 232, with Zingano scoring the first round TKO victory, but it didn’t come ღwithout controversy.
That controversy would ensue with a toe of Anderson’s nailed Zingano’s 🍃eye during a head kick, which would lead to the fight ending sequence a short time later. Unlike a finger to the eye, a toe to the eye is not illegal under the Unified Rules Of MMA.
Zingano wo🌺uld file an appeal to have the fight result overturned to a no contest and it was filed with the California State Athletic Commission📖 (CSAC).
A report from is stating that Zingano had her appeal heard by the CSAC and it was denied. The seven member board that comprises the CSAC voted 6-1 against Zingano, meaning t🌼hat Anderson’s win will remain just that. The lone vote for Zingano came from CSAC board member Mary Lehman, but everybody els⛄e went against the UFC star on this matter.
However, while Zingano did lose her appeal, CSAC official did request that the Ass🐈ociation Of Boxing Commissions & Combative Sports (ABC) to take a look at the rule in the future, meaning future changes to that rule could be coming in the future.
